What to do in and around Royston
Royston Golf Club
The club is particularly interesting as it is situated on Therfield Heath, which is very rugged chalk heathland and is dotted with iron age Tumuli and a long barrow, from the top of the course there are very good views as far as Cambridge. Founded in 1892 the golf club has a hole called Long Barrow and the course guide says shepherd's rest is from one side of a valley to the other and is a difficult shot, I can believe that! for further information www.roystongolfclub.co.uk

Punting on the River Cam
If you fancy trying something a bit different, why not try your hand at punting on the River Cam. It is great fun on a sunny day but can be a little wet if trying it for the first time. If you are not up to punting yourself why not try a chauffeured trip or a guided tour of the backs. www.scudamores.com or www.puntingincambridge.com
